What is the biggest selling beer in the world?
Can I brew a clone of this beer at home?
The answer to the first question is HEINEKIN
The answer to the second is a resounding YES
Heinekin beer outsells all other beers on the planet. It is nearly the most popular beer in Ireland!
It’s up there with sales close to the incomparable and famous stout, Guinness.
Heinekin is renowned as being an easy drinking, refreshing European style lager.
Below is the ingredients required to brew this beer at home and it will save you about $40 a carton to brew this beer yourself.
• 1.7kg Coopers European Lager,
• 1kg Light Dry Malt
• 250gm Corn sugar (Dextrose)
• 12gm Hallertau Hops
• 1 x American Ale – Safale US-05 Yeast
Pour 2 litres of boiling water into your fermenter, Add the 1.7kg European Lager Tin, 1kg Light Dry Malt and 250gm Corn sugar, mix well. Add the 12gr Hallertau Hop (tea bag) into the fermenter (with the boiling water mix) and allow to stand for 10-15 minutes.
Top up fermenter to 23 litres with cold water to bring to required temperature and aerate the wort well. Sprinkle Yeast onto the wort. Put lid on fermenter with airlock in place full of water and allow to ferment.
Use a hydrometer to check opening and final gravity and when your wort is finished fermenting, which should be around 7-9days. Then bottle/keg.
As a reminder, at present at Burleigh Homebrew all our Coopers International range are on special including the European Lager, so there isn’t a better time to give this recipe a try.
