Laboratory tests prove that the carbon improves the spirit from the T500. It’s important to still carbon treat when using the T500 in order to get the very highest quality finished spirit.
The cartridge eliminates the need to handle powdered or granulated carbon. The cartridge’s porous design allows the spirit or water to pass through and the unwanted flavours or chemicals to be absorbed by the activated carbon. It is fast, clean and easy to use. Each cartridge is suitable for one batch of alcohol from a 25L still or 300L of water.
Instructions: In a mixing jug add 200mls (6.8oz) of water and 200mls (6.8oz) of vodka or filtered alcohol at 40% ABV. Add contents of Icon Cream Liqueur Base and whisk vigorously to thoroughly dissolve. Pour into a 750ml (26oz) bottle and add Icon Irish Cream pouch. Shake until dissolved and then top up with vodka or filtered alcohol at 40% ABV.
EZ Filter 40mm Washers a pack of 10 replacement washers which fit the EZ filter. These 40mm diameter washers are used either side of the carbon cartridge in the EZ filter and should be replaced when they do not ‘spring’ back to shape after use. These cushioning washers are specially made from polypropylene which is not affected by alcohol and cannot taint the spirit. Use one each side of the carbon filter when they become compressed.
Rich and creamy in the style of the famous Bailey’s Irish Cream. Great by itself, over ice, or as an addition to coffee. Ideal in the layered shooter “Cowboy”, add 1 part cold Butterscotch Schnapps, one part Irish Cream. Samuel Willard’s Irish Cream premixed base produces 1125mL of spirit from each 375mL bottle.
Coral Sea Products has responded to customer feedback with a rum that is not quite as sweet as the original, but still retains the character. Initial feedback for this product has been very good, and we market it in 50ml bottles (30 per carton) which is sufficient for 2.2 litres of alcohol. The product was formulated to compliment a base produced from acivated carbon filtration and oaking using American Barrel Oak.
When mixed according to instructions, it produces a rich, smooth, yet full bodied dark rum resembling another well known Queensland icon. This is the taste of the tropics. The rum essence, which is supplied in a 200 ml container, is sufficient to flavour 3.5 litres of rum. The essence is made from a blend of refined cane sugars with no added preservatives. Unopened, the essence has a very long shelf life, but is best when used within two years. The rum produced, may be enjoyed with your favourite mixer, or simply over ice to provide a rich smooth satisfying drink. Once you have sampled the rum produced by mixing this essence, you will not be satisfied with any other substitute.
T500 ceramic boil enhancers aid the start of the boiling process and help to prevent surges during the stilling process. Hooked on Brewing recommends the use of Still Spirits Distilling Conditioner in conjunction with these during every still.
These enhancers should be used in every boiler not matter the brand. Mangrove Jacks, Still Spirits, Pure Distilling or QBrew Boilers.
Copper is required as a catalyst to remove sulphur odours during distillation. These are essential for high alcohol washes, typically over 16% ABV.
To wash your saddles: Remove them (both ceramic and copper, but keep them separate for ease of reassembly) from the column and soak them in vinegar. Once finished give them a thorough rinse 3 or 4 times before putting them back in the condenser.
You only have to rinse your column and saddles every 5-10 distillations.
Fill T500 column with saddles, shaking into place as you fill.
These are preferred over ceramic as the ceramic absorbs the unwanted impurities and stainless steel helps with the refluxing action that removes these impurities more. Stainless steel saddles are also not porous so they last longer.
